BAY CITY, Mich. — Marijuana Security Operations (MSO) recently held a boat party as a way to thank its clients, investors, friends and supporters. The party started at MSO’s secured facility in Bay City, affectionately known as “the bunker,” then continued onboard the “Islander” of Bay City Boat Lines and the boat cruised to the mouth of the Saginaw Bay.

“We wanted to bring together and connect all of our friends in the cannabis industry, and show appreciation to those we’ve worked with over the last couple years,” said MSO owner and director Grady Emmons. “The event was a huge success. Turnout was phenomenal, and everybody had a great time.”

Emmons says that the party will be an annual event. This year’s party was sponsored by ServiceMaster Restore of the Tri-Cities, The Botanical Co., BNI “Success at Seven,” the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association, Securatech, McCoy’s Heating and Cooling, and the Escon Group.

MSO anticipates being granted a Secured Transport License under the Medical Marijuana Facilities Act by the end of October. Once licensed, MSO will be able to transport marijuana and money associated with the purchase or sale of marijuana between facilities. In July, MSO received notification from the State of Michigan that it was granted pre-qualification status.

“Pre-qualification is the last sign post of an over one-year long, arduous licensing process,” Emmons said.

The license, a relatively new creation of the State legislature, is very difficult to obtain. Applicants must undergo strict criminal and financial background checks. Only eight companies state-wide are licensed.

MSO is based in Bay City and focuses on marijuana facilities security, the secure transport of cannabis under the Michigan Medical Facilities Licensing Act, and general consulting for the cannabis industry. MSO security personnel are highly-trained, and most employees are ex-military or law enforcement.
